Welcome to a new and soon to be great Animal Rescue and Shelter group. With the way our community is with lots of people either homeless, low income, disabled, or uneducated about responsibilities of pet ownership and how to handle and where to turn for issues regarding animals and this is where our group will come in.
This awesome group will be more active as we get the funding needed for registration and non profit certified and acquire property with building to shelter animals and provide services to assist the animals and the community. Just by taking in a few animals at a time, and the word is getting out about my intentions to start this shelter and rescue service I get calls almost daily requesting me to take in animals that either can't be kept because of relocation, strays, momma cats and babies that were born on a farm, and so on. I have a house full now and can't take in any more at the moment but have a plan in motion to try to get more help with this shelter and getting it open. I have support from a few local rescue groups a couple other shelters, and lots of businesses and residents and they all want to see this shelter go up and even offered to partner up or volunteer or help in some way. It is exciting to get this much support but financing to just get started is the biggest challenge and I have not gotten too far yet but have in the last few days came up with possibilities and also have to plan a little more deeper such as where to open the shelter and finding the property with buildings to open the shelter, I already know what registration I need and working on that as well, also need to establish a board of directors as well to help with shelter business such as making decisions etc. Once the shelter is in action funding should be able to come in at a nice steady rate. Funding will be donations, fundraisers, money from adoptions and pet supply and items sales, etc.
I know it sounds like a lot on my plate but once this is going and everyone starts getting the word and sees what a difference this can make in our little community they all will want a part of the action in some way.
Some of the services I would like to provide with this shelter are as follows but not limited to:
